Experts in Processing Edible Food Waste
Unlocking the financial, nutritional and environmental value of upcycled ingredients.
How do we unlock farmland and reduce CO2 emissions?
By replacing flour in snack foods or nuts in spreads we can release the farmland needed to grow the wheat, corn or nuts in the first place. Because waste superfoods already have a primary use no more land or resources need to be created to use it.
By switching 10% of the flours used in snack foods we can unlock approximately 6 million acres of farmland for other uses. In a resource constrained world with a growing population this is crucial.
Additionally by preventing the wastes from being left to rot or compost we can reduce CO2 emissions. Literally tons of these wastes are not used further. It’s why we chose to name our company LoGI, which stands for Low Global Impact.
What are upcycled ingredients?
Each year hundreds of millions of tons of food processing waste – such as fibres left from fruit juicing, pressed oil seeds, and grains washed of starch and sugar for alcohol production. Most of these waste streams go to low value uses such as animal feed, biofuel or worse it’s left to rot. But these ‘wastes’ are actually superfoods, high protein, fibre food and hugely beneficial additional nutrients.
We’re on a mission to replace virigin ingredients in everything from snacks to cereals and spreads with these nutritious upcycled ingredients.
